The Seasiders took the field with a coupe of changes to the squad this month. Debuts for Pete Sutton and Bob Dye and Steve Hyde making a late substitution in goals as Duane was laid down with the dreaded covid.
Blackpool 0 Winstanley 0
Blackpool 0 Wakefield 1
Blackpool 0 Panthers 0
Blackpool 2 Corinthians Whites 0
First up a very competitive match with Winstanley. They probably shaded possession and chances but the defence held strong and The Tangerines could have pinched it at the end.
The second game was against the very strong table topping side from over the border. Again, the defence contained them well but finally were undone by their experienced international centre forward from Redcar. A half turn and stabbed left footer took a nick of Tom Jaques’ shin to find the top corner of the net.
We perhaps deserved more from game 3. Greater possession was enjoyed and a couple of given, but unrecorded, fouls should have helped to obtain a 4 foul penalty. Not to be, and neither was the very well constructed and taken goal that was disallowed from Pete Capper. Small margins like this could cost us League 1 status.
Finally, it all came together against Corinthians Whites and two superb finishes from Bob sealed the points. Nothing less than we deserved. It is so much easier at the back when we go one (and very “un-Seasidery” like two) ahead in a game.
League Table
Wakefield (+9) 59 points
Preston (+8) 38
Corinthians Reds (+5) 38
Bury (+6) 35

9 games to play over Nov and Dec. Think we know where the League title is heading, but it is tight for runners up and the three relegation places.
Nov – C Reds, Bolton, Bury, Rochdale, Preston
Dec – Winstanley, Wakefield, Panthers, C Whites
