Getting Started with Walking Football in Blackpool

If you’re new to walking football, the Over 50s sessions at Blackpool Senior Seasiders are the perfect place to begin. Sessions are relaxed, friendly and designed to help you build confidence at your own pace.

There’s no pressure and no previous experience required. Many players are returning to football after years away from the game, while others are trying it for the first time.

Prospective players should attend one of our Recreational Sessions first. Progression into our Over 50s training sessions and competitive matches may then follow.

What to Expect at Your First Session

  • A mix of new and experienced players

All sessions take place at Common Edge Community Sports Village in Blackpool, using a modern 3G pitch.

Progress into Other Age Groups

Many players start in the Over 50s sessions before progressing into Over 60s, Over 70s and Over 75s teams. This provides a clear pathway to both recreational and competitive walking football.

Sessions are held at Common Edge Community Sports Village in Blackpool, on a modern 3G pitch with excellent facilities.

Sessions usually take place twice a week:

  • Tuesdays: 4:00pm – 5:00pm
  • Fridays: 1:00pm – 2:00pm
  • An extra session is held for the competitive 50s and 60s players on Thursdays 8-9pm

Just bring comfortable sportswear, suitable footwear for a 3G pitch (astro trainers or moulded boots), and a drink. Everything else will be explained when you arrive.

Yes, walking football is a low-impact sport. Running is not allowed and physical contact is minimal, making it a safer alternative to traditional football.

Yes, many players start in the Over 50s sessions and progress into Over 50s, Over 60s, Ove 65s, Over 70s and Over 75s competitive squads.
