Beginner Walking Football in Blackpool – Social & Friendly Sessions
Our beginner and social walking football sessions in Blackpool are open to players of all abilities, with a focus on enjoyment, fitness and community. Whether you’re new to walking football, returning after time away, or simply looking for a relaxed, friendly environment, you’ll feel welcome from your first session.
If you’re visiting Blackpool or live locally and want to stay active, our sessions are ideal for over 50s, as well as younger players who prefer a slower-paced version of the game.
Sessions take place at the modern Common Edge Community Sports Village, featuring high-quality 3G pitch facilities.

We play small-sided matches (5, 6, 7 or 8-a-side) on 3G astroturf, overseen by experienced club referees to ensure games are safe, fair and enjoyable for everyone.
Our sessions run weekly:
Tuesdays: 4:00pm – 5:00pm
Fridays: 1:00pm – 2:00pm
Our Ladies Session is every Wednesday at Blackpool Sports Centre indoors, and every Monday evening at CESV 7-8pm.
To keep games balanced and inclusive, some players may be limited to three touches.
All sessions follow The FA walking football laws alongside our own local rules, which are designed to maintain a safe and enjoyable experience for all players. You can read the full rules here.
After each session, players are welcome to stay for tea, biscuits and a chat in the Sports Village Community Room — a key part of what makes our club such a strong and friendly community.
What You Will Need
Register – Fill out our online registration form so that we’re all covered for insurance and health & safety.
Suitable sportswear – shorts or tracksuit bottoms, shirt, socks, and trainers or astroturf boots
Shinpads – required for insurance purposes

Is walking football suitable for beginners?
Yes, walking football is ideal for beginners. Our sessions are designed for players of all abilities, including those who have never played before. The pace is slower, the rules are simple, and there is a strong focus on enjoyment and participation.
What age do you have to be to play walking football?
Most players are aged 50 and over, but we also welcome younger players who may be recovering from injury or prefer a slower-paced version of football. Everyone is encouraged to play at their own level.
Do I need any experience to join?
No experience is needed. Many players join without having played football for years, or even at all. Our sessions are friendly, inclusive and designed to help you get involved straight away.
When are your walking football sessions?
Our beginner and recreational sessions take place every week:
- Tuesdays: 4:00pm – 5:00pm
- Fridays: 1:00pm – 2:00pm
Where are the sessions held?

What should I bring to a session?
You should wear comfortable sportswear such as shorts or tracksuit bottoms, a shirt, socks and trainers or astroturf boots. Shinpads are required for insurance purposes – and can be provided by the club if you don’t have any.
How much does it cost?
Your first session is free, then each session is £4. Recreational members pay £10 per year, Competitive members pay £20 per year to help cover the cost of competition entries.
