Blackpool Senior Seasiders Over 70s kicked off the new season in The Greater Manchester Walking Football League Division 2 on March 12th. A solid performance in the 4 games as Seasiders drew 0-0 with Salcom, Preston North End, and Moston Brook – and beat Burnley Clarets 1-0 with a goal from Mick Lea.
A re-vamp of the leagues this season will see us play the same 4 opposition teams over 8 months (Mar-Jun and Sept – Dec) over a marathon 32 game competition.
Good to get off to a reasonable start.
Blackpool 0 Salcom 0 (fairly even match and a fair result)
Blackpool 0 Moston Brook 0 (a game we should have won against the promoted team from Division 3. We miss a penalty)
Blackpool 1 Burnley 0 (a well struck shot gave us the points against last season’s division 1 relegated side)
Blackpool 0 Preston 0 (we ran out of steam and took a battering of a sort)
We have 6 points from our first outing. It usually takes us 3 months to get that total !
