Blackpool Senior Seasiders member Mick Ellis is swapping the walking football pitch for the saddle as he takes on an epic long-distance bike ride in support of Trinity Hospice and Brian House Children’s Hospice.
These much-loved local charities provide specialist care and support for adults, children and families across Blackpool and the Fylde Coast. Their services are provided free of charge, making fundraising efforts such as Mick’s incredibly important.
Mick’s route to the Fylde Coast
Mick will begin his ride on 30 July 2026, at Eamont Bridge, just south of Penrith, before tackling the climb over Shap and descending through the Tebay Valley.
From there, he will ride alongside the fells towards Sedbergh and continue through Kirkby Lonsdale and Caton. He will then join the cycle path through Lancaster before passing through Conder Green and Cockerham.
The final part of the ride will take Mick through the country lanes to Shard Bridge, followed by a loop around the Fylde through Singleton, Weeton and St Annes.
After reaching the tram depot at Starr Gate, Mick will follow the promenade north through Blackpool and Cleveleys before completing his journey at the Lower Lighthouse in Fleetwood, opposite The Euston Hotel.
It is a challenging route through Cumbria, Lancashire and the Fylde Coast—and a tremendous effort in support of two causes that mean so much to local families.
Help Mick reach his £500 target
Mick has set himself a fundraising target of £500. Every donation, however large or small, will help Trinity Hospice and Brian House continue providing compassionate care to local people when they need it most.
If you are unable to donate, sharing Mick’s fundraising page with friends and family can also make a real difference.
