Mandy Gibson Great North Run

Mandy Gibson, wife of Blackpool Senior Seasiders Over-65s player Hugh Gibson, is preparing to take on one of the country’s most famous running events—the Great North Run, on 13 September 2026

Mandy paid for her own place in the event so that she could use the challenge to support a cause that is deeply personal to her: the fight against dementia.

A first half-marathon challenge

Although Mandy runs regularly, she has never completed a half-marathon before. Her training is already well underway, and she is determined to cross the finish line despite knowing that the 13.1-mile course will be one of the biggest physical challenges she has ever undertaken.

Every mile will be run in memory of Mandy’s mother-in-law, who the family sadly lost to dementia, and for her own mum, who is currently living with the disease.

“Watching someone you love slowly fade away is heartbreaking, and it’s something no family should have to face.”

By taking part in the Great North Run, Mandy hopes to raise money for dementia research and support, helping people living with the condition and the families caring for them.

Please support Mandy

Every donation, regardless of its size, will help make a difference. If you are unable to donate, sharing Mandy’s fundraising page with friends and family will also help her reach more people.

Everyone at Blackpool Senior Seasiders wishes Mandy the very best with the remainder of her training and, of course, on the big day itself.

Good luck, Mandy—we know Hugh and the whole Seasiders family will be cheering you on!
