GMWFL Over 70s Div 2 December Session 4
The Seasiders went into the final group of games just 1 point ahead of Bolton in the relegation slot. So the mission was “play to survive”. Having gone 15 games without scoring this was going to be an uphill struggle.
Blackpool 1 Salcom 0 – finally a goal (from Fred Waller and believe it or not it was a well worked free kick). Helped also by Bolton losing their first game.
Blackpool 0 Preston 0 – hard won point against the present League Leaders. Again Bolton failed to secure any points in their game.
Blackpool 0 Bolton 0 – the final piece of the survival jigsaw, Safety achieved.
Blackpool 0 Winstanley 0 – a game too far against the soon to be crowned League Champions. A couple of mistakes severely punished by a very good team.
It was sad to record the final games from Frank Flynn who has been a great servant to the WF game community playing for various sides locally and the League Reps, and Regional and International teams. Time for Lynn to burn your boots, Frank. Thanks for all your endeavours.
So, we go again from March to June in 2025.
