WFA Over 65s Cup – Southport 1, Seasiders 2

WFA Over 65s National Comp. 2nd Round. Southport FC WF 1 Blackpool Senior Seasiders 2

In damp conditions played in Skelmersdale the Seasiders came back from a goal down in the first half to take the game midway through the second half.

An early set back, against the run of play was offset with the last kick of the first half when a shot came back off the post and Hugh Gibson prodded home with composure.

Blackpool continued to dominate the game with good close 2 and 3 touch football on a fairly compact pitch. They were finally rewarded when a clever free kick found its way across the area to an unmarked Dave (Haaland) Roberts to strick home and win the game.

Good game management saw out the most deserved victory and progress is made to round 3.

Thanks to Colin and the folks from Southport in setting up and hosting the match.
