Blackpool Senior Seasiders Over 60s continued their great form in The Greater Manchester Walking Football League Division 1 this Thursday.
Blackpool’s over-60s walking football team continued their impressive campaign at Heywood this week, navigating five challenging fixtures to remain two points clear at the top of the division.
The team opened with a 1-1 draw against Manchester Corinthians, followed by a commanding 4-0 win over Chorley Panthers. A narrow 1-0 victory over Bury showcased defensive discipline and composure, while a high-quality 1-1 draw against recent FA Cup winners Bolton kept the momentum alive. The final match—a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Fleetwood—rounded off a physically demanding but successful day.
Nick Carter led the scoring with five goals, supported by two from Mick Downer. With Laurence Berry unavailable, the squad showed exceptional flexibility, with players stepping into unfamiliar roles and maintaining tactical shape throughout.
Chris Turner, goalkeeper and manager, praised the team’s resilience:
“Every single player gave everything today. We had to reshuffle and adapt, but the lads showed real character. Fitness, composure, camaraderie, and a willingness to work for each other are paying dividends—and that’s what’s keeping us top.”
With just four games remaining in December, Blackpool’s title hopes are alive and well. The final stretch promises intensity, determination, and a squad ready to finish the season with pride.
