Born in Blackpool in October 1962. Nickname at school “Billy Whizz”. Played for the school teams at left wing and Sunday league Foxhall juniors at left wing back. Right footed but always cutting inside from the left due to my pace. Sadly aged 14 I broke my femur which killed off any ambitions of a footballing career.
Senior football consisted of playing for Ansdell FC, Fleetwood Nautical college and in Bermuda for Ernst and Young. Ex oil exploration worker and specialist maritime search and rescue Commander. Retired in 2019.
Always played as a back up goalkeeper but now it’s my preferred position for Blackpool senior seasiders and fortunate enough to be selected for the NW regional team. Married to Marie and we have one son Ben who’s just headed to university to study Paramedic science.
