Matchday Report

Squad: Andy Smith, Laurence Berry, Duane Playforth, Hugh Gibson, Mike Nash, Chris Giles, Mick Downer, Graham Holgate

Firstly, thanks to all the lads who turned out today in St Helens. The weather was atrocious, the pitches were not great, the goals were obviously miles too big, and there were no proper Referees. Add to that the 8,000 girl majorettes and their 16,000 parents clogging up the whole vicinity, it was a bad show.

As regards the games.

Winstanley… (with Andy Clarke playing up front for them). We played excellently, hit the woodwork 2/3 times and didn’t deserve to lose…. Lost 3-1….. a performance of real credit, hard work, concentration…. We were tight 👍

Bolton Mavericks …. As usual we gave first goal away. We then equalised and then despite totally dominating and having several clear chances and a 3 on 1 situation we didn’t score despite clearly being the much better team so 1-1….. Finishing let us down or would have been an EASY victory

South Manchester…..we yet again concede the first goal by deciding to let TWO of their players completely free through on our goal…. Incredible tbh. We lose 2-0 and deserved to. Poor performance

Larry scored our 2 goals.
