Blackpool Senior Seasiders are delighted to announce the launch of a brand-new feature on the website and social media channels — Seasiders Sidelines.
The new comic strip series brings the personalities, humour and unforgettable moments of walking football to life through a collection of original cartoon strips inspired by the club’s players, managers, referees and volunteers.
From “quick minces” and Blue Cards to Bovril shortages and over-the-top goal celebrations, Seasiders Sidelines captures the lighter side of walking football and the brilliant characters that make Blackpool Senior Seasiders such a unique club.
The series features a growing cast of familiar faces from around the club, including:
- Les Turner and his famous Blue Cards
- Neil Martin and his “not walking”
- Duane Playforth’s encouragement
- Jim Campbell’s goal celebrations
- Les Mycock keeping the brew room running
The cartoons have already become hugely popular among players and supporters, with members recognising themselves — and each other — in the strips.
Bringing Walking Football Humour To Life
Walking football is competitive, social, and full of brilliant banter, and the club wanted to create something that reflected the atmosphere of training sessions, league games, and tournaments.
The new series celebrates:
- The friendships built through walking football
- the personalities within the club
- The humour of veteran footballers
- and the unique culture of the Blackpool Senior Seasiders
While the matches remain competitive, Seasiders Sidelines highlights the fun side of the game that keeps players coming back week after week.
More Cartoons Coming Soon
New episodes of Seasiders Sidelines will continue to be released regularly across the website and social media channels, with more club characters and stories already in development.
Members are also encouraged to suggest ideas, memorable moments and funny matchday stories that could feature in future editions.
More Than Just Football
Blackpool Senior Seasiders continues to grow both on and off the pitch, with walking football sessions, league fixtures, national competitions and a thriving social atmosphere helping players stay active, connected and involved in the game they love.
The launch of Seasiders Sidelines is another example of the club’s commitment to building a fun, welcoming and community-focused environment for older footballers across Blackpool, the Fylde Coast and Lancashire.
Keep an eye on the website and social channels for the next edition of Seasiders Sidelines.
